custom designs & colour mixing whipped creams
I received a custom order from a customer for a vintage green themed set with a phone case, keyring and phone strap.
The customer sent me a reference image of a cake and said they wanted it to be pastel green
I started the design sketches of what I visualised in my head inspired by this cake image. For the phone case, I had an idea of a pastel pink border edge followed by a smaller pastel green one and then piped dots in the middle.
For the keyring, I was thinking of a pistachio green Swiss roll cake with pastel pink whipped cream topping and a strawberry slice
The most challenging part of making this phone case was the colour mixing where it was tricky to get the right greens. There were times where the pink was too dark and the green wasn't pastel enough and looked too much of a tree green. However, after testing out varying amounts of colours I managed to get the right pistachio green colour. This was achieved by adding more of the yellow ochre and the black to tone down the saturation of the original paint colour
I also decided to improvise the original design. Instead of having larger border and smaller edge next to it, I used a different piping tip for the pink and the green cream to add variation to the design
After mixing different types of greens and pinks, I was finally happy with the right colours and the design of the final products!
